JULY 2014 ■ 143 ■ FOOTBALL RECRUITING Scouting report: Hinton is not Russell Wilson, but he has a Wilson-type game on the field. He is a good enough athlete to be a dangerous playmaker with his feet, but that only compliments his passing abilities. Despite his size, Hinton has a strong arm and improved his accuracy and touch from the beginning to the end of last season. He's a strong leader who can be a tough matchup for defenses. 19. QUARTERBACK ANTHONY RATLIFF Matthews Butler High Measurables: Checked in at 6-2, 192 pounds at the Rivals Camp Series event in Charlotte in March. Stats: Threw for 2,552 yards and 34 touchdowns, and rushed for 1,195 yards and 20 scores as a junior. Rivals.com rankings: Three-star pros- pect, No. 13 dual-threat quarterback na- tionally and No. 11 player in the state. Colleges: Verbally committed to North Carolina March 10. Scouting report: Ratliff probably has more upside than Hinton. He's a tad better athlete and is bigger and stronger, but he is rawer as a passer despite his strong arm. Ratliff has plenty of confidence in himself and is not shy about it. 20. DEFENSIVE END MALIK DOUGLAS Southport South Brunswick High Measurables: Was 6-4, 220 pounds at the Rivals Camp Series event in Charlotte in March. Last summer at NCSU's camp, ran the 40-yard dash in 4.58 seconds and had a 10-10 standing broad jump. Stats: Accumulated 71 tackles, 16 sacks, five forced fumbles, three passes broken up and a blocked punt as a junior. Rivals.com rankings: Three-star pros- pect and No. 26 recruit in the state. Colleges: Verbally committed to NC State Feb. 2. Scouting report: Physically, Douglas ranks among the best in the state. He is explosively quick and has the speed to run down athletic quarterbacks from behind. Had he played for a higher profile program than winless South Brunswick, Douglas would have almost certainly been a hotter commodity on the recruiting trail.
