JULY 2014 ■ 147 ■ BASKETBALL RECRUITING Simmons. Duke, Kansas, Kentucky and Missouri also contacted him after June 15. "It was real crazy," Simmons said. "By 12:10 a.m. I had probably 10 text messages in a minute, and phone calls back to back. California called me, and then Alabama called me. The list just kept on going down the line. Kentucky coach John Calipari called me, too. "It might be hard to manage it, but it is real exciting to have all these schools com- ing at me." Rivals.com ranks Simmons as a four-star prospect and the No. 28 overall player in the class of 2016, and he recently was part of a prestigious group of high school players that adidas brought to its EuroCamp on June 7-9 in Treviso, Italy. "That was real exciting," Simmons said. "I am just blessed to make the USA adidas Team and travel out of the country to play against a lot of good competition, with NBA scouts there. "I learned about how I just need to keep competing and getting stronger to play at the next level." Simmons was back at it at the NBPA Camp at the University of Virginia on June 17-21. He averaged 6.9 points and 1.7 assists per game at the event while helping lead his Knicks squad to the championship. Simmons returns to action with the At- lanta Celtics during the July evaluation pe- riod. He averaged a team-best 18.5 points per game while shooting a blistering 51.9 percent from the field and 35.7 percent from three-point range in 16 games (13-3 record) for the adidas Gauntlet. "I just want to show everybody that I'm a top player as some people rate me as," Sim- mons said. "I just want to show everybody my game and what can I do." ■ For regular reports on NC State basketball recruiting plus videos of Wolfpack commitments and targets visit TheWolfpacker.com.
