football recruiting issue Nations Top Running Back Felt At Home In Michigan When Richmond (Va.) Hermitage running back Derrick Green first reported for duty, head coach Patrick Kane wasnt sure what to do with him. He looked more like a lineman than anything, checking in at 268 pounds, but like so many kids his age he envisioned being the next big thing at running back. He might get his shot as a Michigan freshman. Fifth-year senior running back Fitzgerald Toussaint continues to rehab a serious leg injury one that has presented more ques- tions than answers about his immediate future and theres a dearth of experienced backs behind him, meaning its anybodys job this fall. That was one factor that led Green, a five-star prospect, to Ann Arbor, but not the only one. Green found exactly what he was looking for in a coaching staff that plans to move the chains by ramming it down defenses throats behind a big, strong offensive line. Hes also exactly the guy who can deliver for them, analyst Green, who is listed at 5-11, 220 pounds, is perfectly suited to excel in the downhill rushing attack that Michigan wants to employ. photo courtesy
