football recruiting issue Recruit And Recruiter Shane Morris Becomes Michigan QB Throughout the course of the 2013 recruiting cycle, one name came up more than any other as Michigans best recruiter. No, it wasnt veteran defensive coordinator Greg Mattison, but rather Warren (Mich.) De La Salle quarterback Shane Morris. When Morris committed to Michigan on May 10, 2011, he immediately started working to ensure hed be surrounded by some of the best talent in the country during his time at Michigan. By the time the class second member, safety Dymonte Thomas, pledged four months later, it was clear that Morris unofficial role as a Michigan recruiter had paid off. When I was going up to Michigan for my visits and everything, Shane was always on me telling me I should commit, Thomas said with a laugh. Shane got my number, kept texting me, calling me, Facebooking me, tweeting me, he just kept saying, Commit, commit, so I finally committed. Then we just became good friends. Were always tweeting at each other and Facebooking at each other; I like the chemistry already. Were already planning on rooming together at Michigan, so its pretty funny. In what would quickly become a theme, Detroit East Village Prep tight Morris worked to ensure hed be surrounded by some of the best talent in the country during his time at Michigan. photo by lon horwedel
