Taco Charlton
Shifts Focus
From The Hardcourt
To The Gridiron
Descending the stairs at Schembechler Hall, Taco Charlton eyed
fellow early enrollee Jake Butt,
studying his teammate before breaking out into a smile and offering a
handshake. The classmates spent
four years competing for rival high
schools on the football field, and
if they were still residing at home
would be matching up on the basketball court as they did six times
during their first three years.
Both 6-6, Charlton and Butt occupied the low block for Pickerington Central and Pickerington North,
respectively, with Butt claiming the
statistical advantage he put up
16.6 points per game in his junior
In 11 games in 2012, the 6-6, 249-pound Charlton recorded 19 sacks and 24 tackles for loss
among 116 total stops.
