football recruiting issue just went to it. That Hill stayed strong in his pledge to Iowa for so long is a testament to the values that Wilchers program instills. While he was fond of the Hawkeyes program particularly Campbell it was difficult for him to commit to a school so far from home. What made me decide to switch was my family and how close [Michigan] was to home, Hill explained. Just the relationship with the coaches and the school. Just to see how comfortable it is with the atmosphere. The distance was big because now my parents can watch me play. They probably wouldnt have made it to every game when I was at Iowa, which is like eight hours away. Hills recruitment from a Michigan perspective moved fast. He received an offer from the Wolverines Dec. 13, and set up an unofficial visit to Michigan for the next day. While on campus, he had a feeling that he had found the right place for him. He returned the following day, and pulled the trigger for the Wolverines, the same day that Cass Tech teammate David Dawson re-committed to U-M after decommitting in October. It wasnt easy, but everything just came quickly, he said. My family met with the coaches the day after I got the offer. I just went up to the school and looked around, and they showed me everything I needed to see. I asked my mom and my dad what they thought about it, and they said it was cool so I did what I had to do and committed. Its no surprise that Hills decision was fast seemingly everything he does happens at the speed of light. Hes the fastest player on the Cass Tech roster despite tipping the scales about 30 pounds heavier than fellow defensive back (and Wolverines signee) Jourdan Lewis. Hes also one of the strongest, most agile players on the team. The key for Hill will be turning that physical potential its rare to find a player with his athleticism who stands 6-0, 198 pounds as a high schooler into production at the college level. With Michigans coaching staff, however, he should be able to achieve everything hes capable of. I think hes got the most potential out all of the players weve sent to Michigan, Technicians defensive coordinator Jermain Crowell said. His potential is limitless because he does things so effortlessly. If his practice habits improve, once he gets a coach up there who can pull out of him what hes got in him, hes going to be amazing in the secondary. Thus far in his football career, Hill has only scratched the surface of what hell be capable of reaching in college. He has played every position in the secondary at Cass Tech, and will start out playing corner at Michigan before a likely move to safety down the road. The Technicians coaches are expecting a dedicated strength coach and the exceptional position coaches at Michigan to convince Hill that hard work is worth the effort to become a star just down the road in Ann Arbor. Tim Sullivan
