INSIDE MICHIGAN ATHLETICS MICHIGAN'S TOP OLYMPIC SPORTS PERFORMERS Women's basketball senior Madison Ristovski: The former Miss Basketball in the state of Michigan (2012), Ristovski started 23 of U‑M's first 25 games this year, and was averaging 6.7 points, 3.4 assists and 2.7 rebounds per game. She scored in double figures for the seventh time this season, posting 11 points to help lift the Wol‑ verines to a 68‑61 win over Purdue Feb. 14. Baseball junior Carmen Benedetti: The Grosse Pointe, Mich., native garnered first‑team preseason All‑America honors from Louisville Slugger. Benedetti hit .352 a year ago and led the Wolverines with 71 RBI. On the mound, he recorded a 1.84 ERA and three saves in 14 2 ⁄3 innings of work. Men's swimming and diving freshman Mohktar Al- Yamani: The rookie from Tokyo turned heads at Michi‑ gan's First Chance Meet Feb. 13‑14, winning the 100‑ (43.23 seconds) and 200‑yard freestyle races (1:34.77) with times that rank second in the Big Ten in both events. He also took first place in the 500‑yard freestyle, touching the wall in 4:22.83. The freshman was trying to impress his coaches to earn a spot on U‑M's Big Ten Championships roster (Feb. 24‑27). Softball fifth-year senior Sara Driesenga: After miss‑ ing most of her senior season in 2015 with an injury, the Hudsonville, Mich., native was already making good on the redshirt she earned, going 2‑0 with a 1.85 ERA in two starts and four total appearances during the Wolverines' 4‑1 opening weekend Feb. 12‑14. Driesenga struck out seven and earned a shutout in 11 1 ⁄3 innings pitched. Women's tennis senior Ronit Yurovsky: Michigan's captain has helped lead U‑M to a 5‑2 record and a No. 8 national ranking as of mid‑February. Yurovsky beat Notre Dame's Quinn Gleason 6‑1, 7‑6 (3) at the No. 1 singles position to topple the Irish 5‑2 Feb. 14, improv‑ ing her mark to 4‑1 in dual matches and 12‑6 overall this year.
