2016 FOOTBALL RECRUITING ISSUE BY BRANDON BROWN After the season Jake Butt had at Michigan last year, tight ends should be lining up to play for Jim Har- baugh in Ann Arbor. It didn't look like that was going to be the case for a while, but on National Signing Day the Wolverines landed Concord (Calif.) De La Salle four-star Devin Asiasi. The 6-4, 265-pounder, who is rated as the No. 2 tight end and No. 46 overall player in the country by Ri- vals.com, couldn't be more excited to be included in Michigan's top-five class. "I'm really glad to be a part of the program with Coach Harbaugh," Asiasi said. "We have a really great recruiting class this year. We have a lot of great players coming back and a lot of great seniors to lead the team. "Jumping into a team with suc- cess and momentum like this is really exciting, and I'm very happy to be a part of it. I just hope I can contribute from day one." Making an early impact is some- thing Asiasi looks physically able to do. De La Salle head coach Justin Alumbaugh strongly agrees and be- lieves it would be silly to leave Asiasi on the sideline as a rookie. "If he's not playing a lot as a fresh- man, I'll be pissed," Alumbaugh said with a laugh. "If he's not starting, I'm going to be surprised. I can't speak highly enough of him.
