2016 FOOTBALL RECRUITING ISSUE MEASURABLES • Runs the 40-yard dash in 4.69 sec- onds (laser-timed). STATISTICS • During his senior campaign, he had 60 tackles, two sacks and an intercep- tion. • Part of a Flanagan team that won the school's first state title (in Florida's largest division, 8A). • Played both safety and linebacker for the "No Fly Zone" defense at Fla- nagan. • In 2014 as a junior, had 64 tackles, one sack and three interceptions. • Tallied 35 tackles when he was a sophomore. • Three-year varsity starter. HONORS • First-team Associated Press 8A All- State in his final campaign after earn- ing second-team laurels as a junior. • Miami Herald first-team All-Broward County as a junior and senior. ALL-STAR GAMES AND CAMPS • Participated in Michigan's South Florida Satellite Camp in 2015. • Named linebacker MVP of Rivals Camp Series Miami in February 2015. • Participated in Nike's The Opening Regional in Miami. RECRUITMENT • Committed to Michigan June 17, 2015. • Held offers from Colorado (official visit Dec. 4, 2015), Louisville, NC State, USF and several others. • Pledged to Michigan on the same day as Flanagan teammate Josh Me- tellus, and classmate Devin Bush Jr. followed suit Dec. 16. NOTABLE • Born Aug. 8, 1998 in Miami. • Will be the first member of his fam- ily to play Division I football and to attend Michigan. • Also participates in track. 2016 PROJECTION • Though he's likely to play linebacker in college, Gil is currently safety-sized (and was initially projected to play that position in college). He'll likely take a redshirt year to build mass and physically prepare for that position at the next level. He's played a hybrid linebacker position at the high school level, so the mental side of the game should be easy for him to adjust to, and he should get on the field in his second year on campus.
