  BASKETBALL RECRUITING BY CHRIS BALAS T wo Michigan basketball signees — point guard Xavier Simpson and center Jon Teske — had plenty to celebrate in January and February. Medina (Ohio) High's Teske reached a big milestone when he scored his 1,000th career point in a 72‑50 win over Euclid (Ohio) High Jan. 29, a game in which he tallied 24 points, grabbed seven rebounds and blocked five shots. His 21st and 22nd points made him the sixth player in Medina (Ohio) High history to hit the 1,000‑point mark. The game was stopped in the third quarter to give Teske — the No. 108 senior nationally accord‑ ing to Rivals.com — the game ball, which he presented to his family. "It's a great accomplishment," Teske told The Medina Gazette. "I couldn't get there without all my teammates and coaches the last four years." Teske took an alley‑oop from guard Ben Geschke and laid it in. He couldn't dunk it because it was a bit behind him.
