FROM OUR READERS PEPPERS IN THE MIDDLE? Dear The Wolverine: Recently while watching an NFL playoff game I was amazed to hear that the middle linebacker on one of the teams was leading the defense while only weighing about 210 pounds. This raised the question in my mind of with our lack of experi- ence this coming season at the line- backer position, has there been any thought to using Jabrill Peppers at middle linebacker? At that position, they couldn't run away from him very easily, and with his speed and athleticism I can imagine him really wreaking havoc on the opposition. Joe Middleton Ann Arbor They couldn't run away from him, Joe, but they could run right at him. Given the rushing attacks in the Big Ten, the middle linebacker needs to be a little more stout than Peppers. But he definitely moves around and creeps close to the line at times, delivering some nice quarterback containment last season. They'll be creative with him once again, presumably on both sides of the ball.   FROM OUR READERS Rising redshirt sophomore Jabrill Peppers has already proven to be a very versatile player for the Wolverines, but playing middle linebacker isn't likely in his future.
