TREY BURKE FINDS HIS NICHE COMING OFF THE BENCH Former Michigan All‑American point guard Trey Burke is no longer starting in Utah, having lost the job to rookie Raul Neto, but it's turned out to be a good situation for the third‑ year pro. Burke told The Deseret News it wasn't easy to swallow initially, but he's accepted it and thrived in his new role. "At first, yeah," Burke said when asked if there was some disappoint‑ ment with that decision to use him off the bench, "because you always want to start,. "I had worked so hard. I accepted it as soon as [head coach Quin Snyder] told me, because I knew I still would play. I wanted to be a guy who came in and really had a spark to me, but it was an adjustment. It was something I had to get used to." At the All‑Star break, Burke was the sixth‑highest bench scorer in the NBA with 579 points (11.8 per game). He was also averaging 2.6 assists and 2.0 rebounds per game while shooting a career‑best 42.3 percent from the floor as of Feb. 15. "It points to that role being a good one for him," Snyder said.
