2016 FOOTBALL RECRUITING ISSUE Wolverines Waiting On Dytarious Johnson Even with two true linebackers and a handful of potential hy- brid players already in the mix, Michigan's coaches may not be quite finished at the position. One commitment remains un- signed, though the expectation is that he'll be able to join the class eventually. Prattville (Ala.) three-star Dy- tarious Johnson was one of U- M's early pledges, but the high school teammate of running back Kingston Davis has been wading through the NCAA's Clearinghouse before he's able to sign his National Letter of In- tent. "He will make it," said former Prattville assistant coach Anto- nio 'Bam' Richards, who will join the Michigan staff as an offen- sive analyst. "We're still in the process of getting it handled." The 5-11, 215-pound Johnson earned his Michigan offer at the Wolverines' Prattville Satellite Camp in June and committed on the spot. His other offers came from the likes of Georgia Southern, Memphis and Syracuse. The Signing Period ends March 31, but even if Johnson isn't able to get his academic situation fully squared away by that time, he'd be able to enroll at Michigan in June and officially sign his athletic grant-in-aid paperwork at that time without ever signing a National Letter of Intent. U-M is expected to bring Johnson into the program eventually. Other options — if his NCAA Clearinghouse status isn't resolved in time for the beginning of 2016 training camp — include a year of prep school or junior college, or delay- ing enrollment by a semester as a "greyshirt" prospect whose NCAA eligibility calendar wouldn't begin until the 2017 season. — Tim Sullivan Dytarious Johnson is an unranked three- star recruit, but he impressed enough to earn an offer at the Michigan Satellite Camp at his high school, Prattville (Ala.)
