  WHERE ARE THEY NOW? Fetter stonewalled the Commo- dores, allowing just two runs in seven innings of work. U-M held a 3-1 lead when he exited the game and won in dramatic fashion on Alan Oaks' pinch-hit, solo home run in the 10th inning, sending the Maize and Blue to the NCAA Super Regional against Oregon State. "To this day, it's still the greatest memory I have had in baseball," Fet- ter said. "As a coach, I hope to one day get to Omaha for the College World Series, but that game, that mo- ment … to be that big of an underdog and beat what was what they were calling the team of the century. "It's very cool to say I was the start- ing pitcher and I did well enough to help the team win, but the credit goes to everyone on our team be- cause it took a lot of great efforts to get there." Fetter returned to form in his ju- nior and senior seasons, going 10-2 with a 2.47 ERA in 2008 and 7-3 with a 3.26 ERA in 2009, garnering team MVP honors his final year. "We had a great run and most of my wins came because I played on great teams," Fetter said. "I would never say I was a dominant pitcher, but collectively we won a lot of games and when you look at the re- cord books, I was a beneficiary of the team success we experienced." Fetter kept his baseball dreams alive for three more years upon grad- uation, but a myriad of arm injuries stifled his development, and in 2013 The The Chris Fetter File Michigan Accomplishments: Earned Baseball America second-team Fresh- man All-America honors in 2006 and was a second-team All-American in 2008 … Named first-team All-Big Ten in 2006, 2008 and 2009, and was a third-team selection in 2007 … Voted U-M's Most Valuable Pitcher in 2008 and 2009, and tabbed as the team's Most Improved Player in 2006 and 2008 … His 10 wins in 2008 rank sixth for a single season by a Wolverine and his 103 strikeouts in 2009 rank fourth … Sits first in career innings pitched with 332 1/3, third in career wins (28), third in strikeouts (281) and seventh in ERA (3.11). Michigan Memory: "We were a bunch of young kids when we started, and Jeff Kunkel was the lone senior starter that held everything together. We kept winning, but the best part was always that we were having fun. I loved going to the ballpark every day. I couldn't wait to see my friends and just play ball." Professional Accomplishments: Selected by the San Diego Padres in the ninth round of the 2009 MLB Draft … Spent three seasons in the minor leagues, going 2-9 with a 5.67 ERA while recording 63 strikeouts in 81 innings pitched … Spent the 2014 and 2015 seasons serving as a scout for the Los Angeles Angels … Hired by Rich Maloney to be the Ball State pitching coach Jan. 7.
