INSIDE MICHIGAN ATHLETICS On whether he knew of U-M's personnel before taking the job: "I had an idea. Obviously, we've tweaked a couple of things, and that's going back to a true four‑down front. In house, Greg Mattison does a great job with the front, and he felt that transition back to a four‑man front was going to be an easy one, so that part of it was easy. "We had five linebackers walk out the door, so that part of it is a little more dif‑ ficult. Not having a true hybrid Sam [strongside linebacker] I'm looking for, we've had to scramble on that in recruiting a little bit, but I felt like we got a couple great candidates there and a couple guys on campus we're looking at, as well. "We told everybody on the recruiting trail don't come in here with the thought of thinking a redshirt. That's just satisfying. We feel like at all three levels we've got guys who can come in and [play]." On if they'll be competing for national championships at Michigan: "I cer‑ tainly hope so. This recruiting class we just completed is certainly an indication of that. "A lot of things have got to go your way in this great game of football, in terms of health of players, chemistry, all those things yet to be determined for the 2016 team, but we've certainly put ourselves in position with this group from a person‑ nel standpoint.
