FOOTBALL RECRUITING Rivals250 are also awarded points, the No. 1 player, Gary for instance, earn- ing 100 points while No. 2 is granted 83 points all the way down until the Nos. 246-250 prospects are given three points each. For example, Gary is a 6.1 five-star ranked the No. 1 player in the country so he earned 250 points. The No. 46 player nationally, Asiasi earned 45 points for his individual mark and another 135 points for his 6.0 rating, while Hill picked up 17 points for be- ing the No. 176 player and another 105 points for his 5.8 rating. Finally, Nordin garnered 60 points for his 5.5 rating, and the four players totaled 612 points. One has to go back to the 2003 class to find the next best National Sign- ing Day haul, when U-M landed five- star defensive end LaMarr Woodley, four-star linebacker Shawn Crable and four-star running back Jerome Jackson on the final day of the recruiting cycle. Using the Rivals.com formula, which wasn't around in 2003, Wood- ley would have earned 192 points as the No. 23 overall prospect (57 points) and a 6.0 rating (135 points) while Crable's No. 47 ranking and 5.9 rating gave him 165 points and Jackson's 5.8 rating was worth 105 points. They totaled 462 points, still well shy of this year 's 612, but substan- tially better than the third-best NSD (385 in 2007). NO. 4 CLASS IS BEST IN RIVALS.COM ERA Michigan's No. 4 recruiting class represents its best finish nationally in the 15 years of the Rivals.com rank- ings, eclipsing the No. 5 showing it achieved in both 2013 and 2004. Michigan's class includes a five-star for the 11th time, with a high of two five-stars in 2003, 2006, 2007 and 2012. U-M had at least 10 four-stars for the eighth time overall, and its 15 four- stars in this class represent the third most in the Rivals.com era behind 17 in 2008 and 16 in 2013. The Maize and Blue have never experienced a one-year jump in the rankings like this past class, going from No. 50 in 2015 to No. 4 — the previous best was 14 spots from 2011 (No. 21) to 2012 (No. 7).
