MICHIGAN A BIG WINNER IN 2016 RECRUITING After landing the nation's No. 1 ranked player, five-star defensive tackle Rashan Gary, and the country's No. 4 overall class, Michigan was lauded for its success on the 2016 re- cruiting trail by a number of media outlets, including Sports Illustrated, ESPN.com, Rivals.com, USA Today, AthlonSports.com and The Washing- ton Post. "Anytime you land the No. 1 recruit in the country, you've had a pretty good day at the office," SI.com wrote. "Jim Harbaugh ended Signing Day with five-star defensive tackle Rashan Gary headed to Ann Arbor, proving that Michigan has returned to being a force on the recruiting trail." Gary's commitment drew the most praise, but the big man is not the only important signee for Michigan, USA Today added. "Gary is joined by a signing class brimming with the sort of talent Jim Harbaugh needs to overtake Ohio State in the Big Ten and compete for a national championship," the news- paper wrote. "In terms of an immedi- ate and long-term impact, keep tabs on quarterback Brandon Peters, who joined Michigan in time to participate in spring drills." The Wolverines' Signing of the Stars event made headlines nationally, bringing great fun to NSD, Rivals.com noted: "For decades the Big Ten was known for 'three yards and a cloud of dust.' Right now it represents the new age of recruiting, led by Michi- gan head coach Jim Harbaugh, who capped off a month of sleepovers and tree climbing with a National Signing Day party in Ann Arbor that brought out celebrities as diverse as quarter- back Tom Brady, wrestler Ric Flair and hip hop group Migos.
