MICHIGAN HOCKEY and then every day we have practice and lifting. Finding that balance so that you're not neglecting your schoolwork but also putting yourself in po- sition with practice to be ready for games is a challenge. "I used to just prepare a day before the game or even the day of the game. Now you have to prepare all week, and make sure you're good to your body, make sure you're getting enough sleep, eating well, and preparing mentally so that you're ready for the weekend." The Wolverine: How would you evaluate your per for- mance this season? Warren: "It's been up and down. I started off really well, but the last few weeks I haven't contributed as much as I would like to [one goal and two assists in his last eight games]. I'm trying to get back to the way I was producing earlier in the year without sacrificing my defensive approach." The Wolverine: How have you responded to a new center, senior Justin Sel- man, over your last five games? Warren: "It's good playing with Selman. He's a senior, he's experienced, he does the right things and he brings that sense of responsibility to our line. "We play a similar style of game, really working hard on both ends of the ice, and we have a lot of speed on our line. It's been a good change." The Wolverine: With six Big Ten games remaining, starting at Minnesota Feb. 25-26, what has this been like chasing a conference title? Warren: "It's really fun. We're grinding but trying to enjoy it, too, and still look- ing forward to finishing strong. "After Big Tens, we want to go to NCAAs and make a run. We know that we need to put in the work now to put ourselves in position to have success in the postseason." — Michael Spath Warren contributed five goals and 11 assists In U-M's first 27 games this season.
