JULY 2015 ■ 149 ■ BASKETBALL RECRUITING Fultz would like to major in accounting and has taken a big picture view of his recruitment. "I'm just looking forward to the educa- tion," Fultz said. "I want to see if the coach wants to be a mentor with me, take care of me off the court and push me hard so I can get to the next level, which is the NBA. I want to start as a freshman." Fultz knows ultimately he has a difficult, but exciting, decision looming. "I know it's going to be very hard," Fultz said. "Every time I think I have a decision, it changes every time." Harvey has much more time on his side in recruiting. NC State was one of the first schools to contact him when it was permitted by NCAA rules, starting June 15. NC State has been tracking Harvey since the eighth grade, and offered him Sept. 18, 2014. The Wolfpack first watched the ath- letic 6-5, 185-pounder at Arden (N.C.) Christ School in 2013, and then the last two years at DeMatha Catholic. The connection to Harvey runs even deeper. He grew up in Huntsville, Ala., which is also the hometown of former NC State combo guard Trevor Lacey. In addition, Gott- fried coached at Alabama from 1998-2009. "They were one of the first to offer me, and they have always stayed in touch," Harvey said. "They were one of the first to call me June 15. They said they produce all these wings like T.J. Warren, and I could be the next to come out of there." Harvey watched NC State play on tele- vision this year to get a better feel for the program, which reached the Sweet 16 for the second time in four years. "They did way better than what people ex- pected," Harvey said. "They came into their own and started playing together, and Trevor took it over." Harvey got to see first-hand how he stacks up against his peers. Thirteen of the top 19 juniors in the country according to Rivals.com were in attendance at the NBPA Camp. "I'm playing against good players, and they are pushing me to my full potential," Harvey said during the event. "I just want to be aggressive and dominating." Harvey has collected 13 scholarship of- fers, and his phone was making plenty of noise June 15, which is when college coaches are allowed to contact the class of 2017. He said NC State, Arizona, Arizona State, Ken- tucky, Duke, Virginia, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Memphis, Tennessee and Notre Dame have contacted him. "The list of schools just goes on and on," Harvey half-joked. "Duke and Kentucky are the two schools that haven't offered yet. Hopefully, they come soon." ® ® Benjamin Franklin, one of our Founding Fathers wrote, "wealth is not his that has it, but his that enjoys it."
