JULY 2015 ■ 67 FOOTBALL PREVIEW 2015 The competition will get amped up even more this summer, when the Pack's freshmen, including three scholarship signees and a pre- ferred walk-on, are added to the mix. The coach noted that all three rookies who earned full rides bring true track speed to the field. That should increase the group's over- all athleticism, while fifth-year senior NaQuan Brown and redshirt sophomore Gavin Locklear are walk-ons who set impressive examples and will work to break into the rotation. "Everyone has a clean slate, and they understand when we report to fall camp, that's when the competition is going to start with the freshmen and everybody," McDonald said. "They've seen through the spring, it's really about who is going to be productive and who is going to compete every day. "We need guys who want to come in and compete because they're either going to beat guys out or make guys better. I've always believed competition separates a lot of people because you're either going to do it day in and day out, or you're going to step aside and let someone else that can do it. "I'm really excited for training camp because we'll have a room full of guys who are healthy, hungry and ready to do it." ■ Junior Bra'Lon Cherry posted 27 catches (tops among returning wideouts) for 354 yards and three touchdowns last season, and he added a pair of scores on the ground as well.
