84 ■ THE WOLFPACKER FOOTBALL PREVIEW 2017 Who guided you when you were freshmen? Street: "Art [Norman] was my mentor." Jones: "T.Y. [McGill]." Hill: "T.Y. and Thomas Teal." Chubb: "With me being in the linebacker room, Rodman Noel, Brandon Pittman, Er- nie [Robinson] and M.J. [Salahuddin]." When you guys line up, B.J. is the only one with a traditional defensive line num- ber with No. 98. Why is that? Hill: "They wanted to stand out." Jones: "The way things panned out was the math. It all comes to the math. I feel like when everybody got their number changed, it wasn't a coincidence it adds up to be together. "I hop on the field with 27, two plus seven equals nine. Chubb is No. 9 on the field. Put Chubb on the bench for a second, then you have Street with No. 35. Bring him in the game and three plus five equals eight. Take Chubb off the bench and bring him in the game, and him and Street give you 98, and you got B.J." Do you all look at it that way? Hill: "He's the only one." How long did it take you to think of that? Jones: "Like 20 minutes. I was looking at this picture [shows picture on phone of the four defensive linemen on field to- gether], and it just started clicking. I don't know what I was doing or what got me to think like that, but I'm glad I did." What's your relationship like off the field? Chubb: "I don't really hang out with them at all." (Laughter) Hill: "We always go out to do stuff to- gether, go to the mall shopping." Chubb: "They put me onto sushi [June 14]. It's the second time I had it, but the first time I got the wrong thing." Who's the fastest? Group: "Street." Street: "I'd say it's close between me and Chubb." Who's the best dancer? Chubb: "Chubb." Group: "Justin." Chubb: "I'm just going to say Chubb first for everything." Who's the best singer? Hill: "Justin." Chubb: "Justin is the only one that likes to sing." Who's the best cook? Group: "B.J." Street: "Me hands down." Chubb: "B.J. made chicken Alfredo. You made rami noodles." Street: "Freshman year I made grits, eggs, bacon and pancakes one time." Chubb: "B.J. makes a mean chicken Alfredo." Street: "That's a basic meal! All you got to do is boil the milk." Who's the best driver? Street: "Me, hands down." Hill: "Hold up, it's me or Chubb." Jones: "It's one of them." Street: "What?" Chubb: "Street can't drive. How many times have you hit a vehicle?" Street: "Once." Chubb: "That's more than me." Who's the funniest? Group: "Justin." Who's the most serious? Chubb: "B.J." Hill: "Yeah, probably me." Who's the strongest? Chubb: "Street." Jones: "It depends on what you talking about." Pound-for-pound, who's the strongest? Group: "Street." Chubb: "Chubb a close second." Who hits the hardest? Jones: "Chubb has the most one-on-one hits so I think he's got that." Hill: "He's not coming off the double teams." How good can this group and the de- fense be? Street: "Sky's the limit." Hill: "If all of us play together as a team, as a unit — defense, offense and special teams, I feel like we can beat anybody that steps on the field against us. "That's how I feel, and that's how I know each of us feels. I feel like the way we work, it shows." Jones: "I feel like the sky is the limit, like Street said. The relationship between the four of us is so good that we can have fun, but when somebody is tripping, nobody is afraid to step up and say calm down. I feel like that's big. Everybody follows the defen- sive linemen and sees how we work." Chubb: "Sky's the limit." ■ Senior defensive tackle B.J. Hill amassed 130 total stops, 21 tackles for loss and six sacks while making 31 starts during the first three years of his NC State career. PHOTO BY KEN MARTIN
